Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 June 2026

These Terms of Service apply when you download, access or use the ReCap Android app (“ReCap”, the “app”). By using ReCap, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

In plain English: ReCap is a user-controlled reaction recording tool. You decide when to arm or record, your videos are saved on your device, and you are responsible for how you use and share them.

1. Who provides ReCap

ReCap is developed and operated by Richard Channell in the United Kingdom.

For support or questions about these terms, contact support@recapapp.co.uk.

2. Eligibility

ReCap is intended for users aged 16 or over. If you are under the age at which you can enter into a binding agreement where you live, you should use ReCap only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian.

3. What ReCap does

ReCap lets you capture selfie reaction videos while using other apps. Depending on the settings and features you choose, the app may provide a floating trigger, live preview, compact recording mode, countdown controls, review, trimming, captions, sharing and optional pre-buffering features.

ReCap records or temporarily buffers video and audio only after you have deliberately armed or started the relevant capture feature. ReCap does not read your messages or monitor your notifications.

4. Permissions and device access

To provide its features, ReCap may ask for permission to use your camera, microphone, display-over-other-apps capability, notifications and device media storage. You can manage permissions through Android settings, although disabling a required permission may prevent parts of ReCap from working.

5. Your recordings and content

You keep ownership of the recordings, captions and other content you create with ReCap. ReCap does not claim ownership of your content.

Recordings are normally stored locally on your device. When you choose to share a recording, the selected third-party app or service will handle it under that service’s own terms and privacy policy.

You are responsible for:

6. Acceptable use

You must not use ReCap:

7. Premium features and Google Play purchases

ReCap may offer optional Premium features through Google Play. The price, purchase type and included features will be shown before you buy.

Google Play processes payments and may manage purchase confirmation, restoration and refunds. Your use of Google Play is also subject to Google’s applicable terms. Nothing in these terms limits any refund, repair, replacement or other consumer right that applies by law.

8. App availability, updates and compatibility

We may update ReCap to improve performance, security, compatibility or features. Some updates may be required for the app to continue working correctly.

ReCap depends on Android, device hardware and third-party components. We cannot promise that every feature will work on every device, Android version or third-party app. Features may be changed, added or removed where reasonably necessary.

9. Intellectual property

Except for your content and third-party open-source components, ReCap’s software, branding, logo, design, text and original materials are owned by Richard Channell or used with permission.

You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use ReCap for its intended purpose. You may not copy, sell, distribute or commercially exploit ReCap except where these terms or applicable law allow it.

10. Open-source software

ReCap includes open-source software. Those components are licensed under their respective open-source licences, which are available through Settings → Open-source licences in the app. If an open-source licence conflicts with these terms in relation to that component, the open-source licence applies.

11. Third-party apps, services and links

ReCap may open or interact with Google Play, email apps, browsers, sharing targets and other third-party services. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, security or data handling. Review their terms and privacy policies before using them.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how ReCap handles information, permissions, recordings and diagnostic data. The Privacy Policy forms part of these terms.

13. Disclaimers and liability

We aim to provide ReCap with reasonable care and skill, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. You should check important recordings and keep backups where appropriate.

To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by:

ReCap is intended for personal and consumer use. We are not responsible for business losses such as loss of profit, revenue, opportunity or business data.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

14. Suspending or ending use

You may stop using ReCap and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend, restrict or discontinue the app or particular features where reasonably necessary for security, legal, technical or operational reasons.

Sections that by their nature should continue after you stop using ReCap—including intellectual property, responsibility for your content and limitations of liability—will remain in effect.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when ReCap, applicable law or our operating arrangements change. The latest version will be published at recapapp.co.uk/terms.html with a revised “Last updated” date.

If a change materially affects your rights, we will take reasonable steps to make it clear through the app, website or store listing.

16. Governing law and consumer rights

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you continue to benefit from any mandatory protections provided by the laws of your home country.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights.
